Visibility in Search Engines

The Process

This blog was written specifically for the phrase “Systematic Review vs Meta Analysis” in 2023.

By consulting the sales team, I learned more about the audience and their pain points to understand how this blog needed to be written. By talking to the research team, I learned the necessary facts about the different review types in order to relay the correct information and finally, on request by the client, I used a generative AI tool and generated an outline and structure for the blog, saving me time in order to hand over the blog quickly. It’s important to note however that while AI was used, there is still a fair amount of work involved in getting the right tone, message and value across to a reader.

The Results

After its release the blog it generated over 28000 impressions. After further website optimisations it increased to over 120 000 impressions. It has fallen in and out of the top 3 positions many times and continues to do so without any changes.

When it comes to a website’s visibility in search engines, knowing the right keywords and targeting them effectively is key to ranking a webpage and encouraging clicks and traffic to go to a website; ultimately resulting in brand awareness.

The Lesson

Impressions vs clicks: To have a person visit your website, they need to be offered the page as an option. If they do not have the option to click the webpage, then they will never go to the website. This is where impressions are essential. The more impressions there are, the more likely you are to get clicks to visit your website.

However, simply because someone sees the webpage as an option, it doesn’t mean they will definitely click on the link. This is where intent and staying relevant play a big role.  Once a page is created, further tweaks and optimisations should be made to ensure the reader see the value and is encouraged to click on the webpage.

FAQ

Despite shrinking attention spans, blog content for a website optimized for SEO serves many purposes. Blogs blend brand storytelling, search intent, and technical best practices, making the website easier to find, relaying the brand’s narrative, and encouraging user retention.

This depends mainly on the topic, audience, and budget. For example, someone who wants to understand a specific, technical topic in depth may wish to read a detailed and descriptive blog as opposed to someone who is simply scanning for some basic information about a particular subject.

Undoubtedly. Despite AI changing the status quo, SEO blog writing remains a powerful tool to attract, inform, and convert potential customers. It is now essential to ensure your content is optimized for AI and search engines. Strategic blog posts can drive organic traffic, showcase expertise and trust, and include calls-to-action (CTAs) that guide readers toward services, downloads, or sign-ups.
